🌍 Who We Are – The WorldUnbound Family
We’re a semi-retired, financially independent digital nomad family from Japan, designing a life of global exploration, festival culture, and eco-volunteering. For over 10 years, we’ve embraced a slow travel lifestyle, spending one month per destination whenever possible—even as we balance work, parenting, and financial independence.
Our 6-year-old daughter, Rey, has been traveling with us since she was six months old, making adventure a part of her everyday life. From dancing at festivals in Koh Phangan to learning about sea turtle conservation in Bali, we believe travel should be more than just sightseeing—it should be transformative, immersive, and deeply connected to the world.
✈ Why We Created WorldUnbound
We launched WorldUnbound to:
✔ Help Japanese travelers navigate international festival culture—with practical guides for events like Boom, Ozora, and Phangan’s legendary parties.
✔ Inspire families to embrace long-term travel and eco-volunteering—because travel isn’t just for solo backpackers.
✔ Share deep, long-form travel insights—covering everything from sustainable travel to festival safety and digital nomad life.
✔ Challenge the “wait until retirement” mindset—by showing how semi-retirement, barista FIRE, and location independence can make global experiences possible right now.
Unlike social media, where travel content disappears in a flash, we believe in thoughtful, detailed travel resources that stand the test of time—helping others design meaningful, unconventional travel lives.

💡 Our Travel Philosophy: Prioritization & Freedom
If you want to travel the world while being financially independent, you have to set your priorities straight.
This means choosing experiences over excessive possessions, alternative education over traditional schooling, and designing a life that fits your values—not societal expectations.
✨ To be exceptional, you have to embrace being the exception.
